Upon waking in the morning, even before washing your hands, say:
מוֹדֶה אֲנִי לְפָנֶֽיךָ I give thanks to You
מֶֽלֶךְ חַי וְקַיָּם living and everlasting King
שֶׁהֶחֱזַֽרְתָּ בִּי נִשְׁמָתִי בְּחֶמְלָה, for You have restored my soul with mercy.
רַבָּה אֱמוּנָתֶֽךָ: Great is Your faithfulness.
After washing your hands, say:
רֵאשִׁית חָכְמָה יִרְאַת יְהֹוָה, The beginning of wisdom is fear of Adonoy,
שֵֽׂכֶל טוֹב good understanding
לְכָל עֹשֵׂיהֶם, to all who perform [His commandments],
תְּהִלָּתוֹ עוֹמֶֽדֶת לָעַד: His praise endures forever.
בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם Blessed [is His] Name,
כְּבוֹד מַלְכוּתוֹ Whose glorious kingdom
לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד: is forever and ever.
Before putting on your tallis katan say:
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה Blessed are You, Adonoy
אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם our God, King of the Universe
אֲשֶׁר קִדְּ֒שָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו Who sanctified us with His commandments
וְצִוָּנוּ and commanded us
עַל מִצְוַת צִיצִית: concerning the mitzva of tzitzis (fringes).
יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּ֒פָנֶיךָ May it be Your will
יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהַי וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתַי Adonoy, my God, and God of my fathers,
שֶׁתְּ֒הֵא חֲשׁוּבָה to consider [my fulfillment of]
מִצְוַת צִיצִית לְפָנֶֽיךָ the mitzva of tzitzis before You
כְּאִלּוּ קִיַּמְתִּֽיהָ as though I had fulfilled it
בְּכָל פְּרָטֶֽיהָ in every detail,
וְדִקְדּוּקֶֽיהָ וְכַוָּנוֹתֶֽיהָ accurately and with full intent,
וְתַרְיַ"ג מִצְווֹת and the 6131The numerical value of the word צִיצִית is 600 which, with the 8 threads and 5 knots of the צִיצִית itself, makes 613, the exact number of the mitzvos of the Torah. This symbolizes the Talmudic statement (Maseches Nedarim 25a) that the wearing of tzitzis equals the observance of the whole Torah. commandments
